Tight security ahead of Philippines local elections
Last Updated:
The Philippines has imposed tight security measures ahead of village-level elections across the country tomorrow.
Police say at least 25 people have been killed and 10 others wounded in election-related violence since campaigning began last month.
Tomorrow's polls will see Filippinos choose district chairmen and council members in the nation's 42-thousand villages.
In the last village elections in 2007, police records show there were at least 25 poll-related deaths and more than 40 injuries.
In May this year, at least 28 people died in violence related to presidential and congressional elections.
