Philippines' former first lady Imelda Marcos has relaunched her political career at the age of 80.

She will be running for her husband's former lower house seat of Ilocanos in national elections to be held on May 10.

Launching her campaign Mrs Marcos said she wants to achieve redemption for her husband, who is accused of stealing billions of dollars from state coffers during his 20-year rule.

It will be Mrs Marcos first political outing since losing a presidential bid in 1992.

She will not be the only Marcos running for elections, her daughter Imee is running for governor of Ilocos Norte province, and son Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Junior is seeking a senate seat.
