The Solomon Islands Seismological Observatory in Honiara says it's recorded well over a hundred aftershocks since Monday's initial earthquake in Western Province.

But apart from the initial reports of damaged homes and landslides, there's been no major disaster this time around.

Prime Minister Derek Sikua spent Wednesday visiting parts of Western Province stricken by the quakes.

Principal Seismological Observer, Alison Papabatu, says seismic activity is still continuing.

He says people should continue to pay attention to the quakes.

"More than 100 aftershocks so far have been recorded and it's still continuing within that area," he said.

"We've been advising them not to stay, as soon as they see the waves coming they should go to the higher ground. That is the normal advise we issue."
