Nine killed as boat sinks off Bali

Nine people have died and three are missing after a passenger boat sank off the Indonesian resort island of Bali.

A local official said the boat was carrying 25 people from Kusamba beach, in eastern Bali, to Nusa Penida island, when it capsized.

Thirteen people have been taken to hospital.

It is not yet known what made the boat capsize.

Ferry accidents are common in Indonesia, with its population of 234 million people spread over 17,000 islands.
