Oscar Temaru is French Polynesia's president again, the fourth time he has held the top position since 2004.

Gaston Tong Sang was ousted from office in a vote of no-confidence today, with the pro-independence Mr Temaru winning 37 of the 57 parliamentary votes.

Mr Temaru's win was supported by the party headed by another former president, Gaston Flosse, and one member of Mr Tong Sang's former government.

Mr Temaru has called on MPs to help him fight the current economic crisis faced by French Polynesia.
