North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il has held talks with a visiting Chinese envoy in Pyongyang.

Xinhua news agency says Mr Kim met with Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee on Thursday.

It's the first known meeting by Mr Kim with a senior foreign visitor since a reported stroke in August, which sparked speculation over the health of North Korea's president.

Friday's meeting could offer evidence Mr Kim is well enough to run the country and make decisions about its nuclear weapons programme.
